John Larsen – Owner & Principal
Before founding ZeroHour Advisory, John was Executive Vice-President and General Manager with Edelman, the world’s largest public relations firm. He has served as an executive in three international PR consulting companies, was one of two partners in Global Public Affairs, Canada’s leading government relations firm, and was the founder of Corpen Group, Canada’s largest independent critical communications firm. John has also held executive-level positions with the military, in the corporate sector, and with various orders of government. In 2012 John was awarded the International Association of Business Communications (IABC) ‘Master Communicator’ designation, the highest honour in the public relations profession. He is working on his latest book, In the Room: Perspectives on Leadership in an Age of Crisis and is a designated member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D).
Paul Welsh – Principal
Paul brings three decades of communications agency ownership, operations and practice to ZeroHour Advisory. He and his partner built the largest public relations and communications agency in Western Canada, which they sold to Edelman, the largest public relations agency in the world. After five years as General Manager of Edelman Vancouver, he served as Chief Commercial Officer for Edelman Canada. Paul was also a Managing Partner at NATIONAL Public Relations and a member of the board of Avenir Global, a leading global holding company of communications agencies. He is an integrated communications specialist with a keen understanding of the intersection between trust, reputation and brand — and how issues cut across the complete marketing, communications and public affairs spectrum.
Patti Schom-Moffatt – Senior Counsel
Patti brings her more than four decades experience providing senior strategic communications, reputation and issues management counsel to ZeroHour Advisory, helping clients manage their reputations and build trust with their stakeholders and shareholders. Patti is the founder of Western Canada’s largest public relations agency, which was later acquired by Edelman, the largest PR agency in the world. Following the acquisition, Patti served as the co-General Manager of Edelman Vancouver, then as Chief Client Officer for Edelman Canada, prior to returning to her roots as an independent consultant in 2015. Through her work with Galveston LNG and Kitimat LNG (and later, LNG Canada), she played an influential role in developing the LNG industry in British Columbia. Working with the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS over two decades, her skills as a communicator helped advance the understating of the disease and position Vancouver as a leading centre for HIV/AIDS research and advocacy. Patti has gained a reputation for innovative leadership; smart, strategic thinking and problem solving; and providing direct and honest counsel. She holds the ICD.D governance certification.
